Jan Splichal

An engineer who puts customers into self-driving mode.

I managed key accounts and recruited engineers for four years, then retrained and became one. Today I lead engineering for Customer Experience at Rohlik Group, a company built on customer obsession. I troubleshoot like an engineer, explain it like a human, and remove blockers before anyone even files a ticket.

Engineering Manager

Jul 2025 → now

Rohlik Group, Prague · online grocery, 5 markets, 1M+ customers

  • Lead 10 mostly-senior engineers across three teams (Platform, Acquisition, Payments) building the storefront, the Kotlin Multiplatform mobile app and the payment experience. I still merge code weekly and run the hiring interviews myself.
  • Built Voice of Customer, the internal portal that pulls customer feedback from 10 different sources into one stream the whole org actively works, plus the pipeline that turns that feedback into prioritized engineering tickets.
  • Guard the customer's first impression: own the first-time-user journey across web and apps, and report experiment results with data to executives in cross-functional growth war rooms, down to reporting automation I build myself.
  • First responder when a customer hurts: run the Daktela contact-center platform across four countries, sit in the support channels and reproduce reported bugs myself, once repairing ~950 corrupted customer records within the hour. When something breaks, I write the plain-language incident summary that support, executives and the founder can act on.

Java Backend Developer → Senior Developer / Team Leader

Mar 2019 → Jul 2025

Rohlik Group · junior to team leader in six years

  • Built Rohlik's in-house customer-analytics stack over four years: a standalone A/B-testing service, a GA4 event layer, a customer-journey pipeline and referral/affiliate attribution.
  • Owned the referral and first-time-user acquisition domain across five markets, from FTU segmentation and incentives to welcome pricing.
  • Shipped real-time order tracking with iOS Live Activities across three backend services, on the customer-notifications platform I helped build.
  • Junior years: the mobile app's backend-for-frontend (homepage, sign-in, ordering) and the Rohlik Chef meal-kit overhaul.

Talent Acquisition Manager, EMEA

2017 → 2018

Cyient, Prague · global engineering-solutions provider

  • Managed a team of 5 recruiters plus an offshore sourcer; reworked EMEA recruitment end to end and consulted business-unit heads on hiring strategy.

Key Account Manager · Recruitment Consultant

2014 → 2017

Grafton Technologies, Prague · recruitment agency, engineering division

  • Owned the division's 3 largest client accounts, leading 3 delivery consultants: per-client strategy, relationship development, KPI reporting, cross- and up-sell.
  • Before that: managed a portfolio of 9 accounts as a consultant, covering sourcing, interviewing, and recruitment strategy for engineering clients.

PostHog, from the customer's chair

I sponsored Rohlik's PostHog trial and my teams shipped the instrumentation (funnels, session attribution, session replay, exception capture) across web, apps and backend, with PostHog's own team in a shared Slack channel. I won't pretend I know the product better than you do, but I have a strong sense of what a customer's first quarter feels like.

The in-house PostHog I tried to build myself

4 years before implementing PostHog into our product we tried to build everything by ourselves. I was responsible for GA4 implementation, brand new service for AB Testing on both our frontend and backend as well as a new service for easy affiliate implementations into our systems. Believe me when I say that I understand why companies buy a full stack solution rather than build it from scratch.

Referral program

Lead developer of Rohlik's referral program, one of the main engines of new-customer acquisition across five markets. I owned the backend, led the implementation across web and the mobile apps, and organized the group's work, from reward mechanics and welcome incentives to the guardrails that keep the program fraud-proof.

This CV

Built from posthog.com's own design tokens: the tan, the yellow button, the highlighter. Hit ⌘P and the desktop folds away; it prints as a plain A4 résumé.
